- What is the difference between XVID vs H264? : r askscience - Reddit
But of course, those differences are very hard to notice under suboptimal viewing conditions (bad small screen, etc) The differences will be much more apparent when using smaller bitrates If you compare an Xvid video and an h264 video (encoded using x264) with the same image quality, you can expect the Xvid video to be 60% to 70% larger

- No support for DivX XviD without transcoding? : r jellyfin - Reddit
Using my Jellyfin app on Firestick to stream from my home server over LAN, I'm a little bit surprised to find that HEVC files stream flawlessly without any need for transcoding, whereas the older XviD-encoded files spike my server computer's CPU up to almost 50% as it live transcodes
