Not a lot of difference in noise reduction in a Cessna or Cherokee because they are already quiet If you compare them in something extremely loud like a Pitts the Zulu 3 is quieter The louder the plane the better they work My back to back testing in a 172 with the windows closed the Zulu 3 wasn't any quieter than the Sierra

Lightspeed discontinued them decades ago but still were pretty good for giving me free parts yep, but guess what outlasted my zulu The 20's have rubber coqted cups, i alkyied them up , they are a bit tacky but not as bad as the plastic parts on the zulus these been sitting although in a climate controlled space not like in a hot hanger

The Lightspeed (Delta Zulu and Zulu 3) has a larger ear cup that goes completely around your ear It was a nicer feel for me, even though it had more clamping force Sound Quality Next, listening to music on each headset, I felt the Bose was ‘muffled’ like there was little treble to the sound

Surprisingly with I tested the radio with my Lightspeed Zulu 3 headset it had no side tone It broadcast and received fine, but I could not hear my voice during broadcasts So I tested it with 3 other Lightspeed headsets and got the same results (a Sierra, a QFRXCc active noise reduction headset, and a QFRXC passive noise reduction headset)

Lightspeed's explanation of mic gain is as follows "mic gain adjustment, which adjusts the sensitivity of the microphone to help balance loud and soft voices you hear in a multi-headset environment" This is as clear as mud to me
