Hey! Just wanted to create a discussion thread for the Class of 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program I’m aware that it is a bit early in the game, but as the last round of PSAT scores will be released next week, I think it would be smart to have a head start!

Creating a thread for the Class of 2025 Timeline for the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Competition October, 2023 - Students take the PSAT April, 2024 - High School administrators validate eligibility of students September, 2024 - Students will be notified if they are Commended or Semi-Finalists February, 2025 - Semi-finalists will be notified if they are Finalists March, 2025 - Merit

Now that Pitt Acceptances are starting to come out… all accepted (particularly OOS) are wondering how much merit we can expect I realize that Pitt does not provide merit for most Once you receive merit (if any) please post amounts and stats and college This will help the class of 2026 and the 2025 students waiting Good luck 🍀 to all of us :)

- USC reduced National Merit Finalist Scholarship to FLAT 20K year
This is a decrease of about 15K per year right now (previously half tuition) Because the amount is now a flat rate, it will also become less valuable as tuition increases (the scholarship used to scale with tuition) Appears to have been updated December 19th 2024-25 Year: 20K year 2023-24 Year: 34,952 year + 3K year (university scholarship) It’s unclear whether the 3K university

Most National Merit Scholarships are NOT something you can defer for a year, unfortunately, but you could contact individual schools to be sure If your student does not yet have a First Choice school for National Merit, leave it as Undecided for now

I heard some colleges (like Miami University, in Ohio) offer automatic merit schlorships and its listed on their website based on GPA how do we go about finding what other colleges give such automatic merit scholarships thanks
